The Brian Dillons Junior (B) Footballers, without ten of their regulars, put up a brave performance before losing to a good Rathpeacon side, 2-14 to 0-14, in the City Division Junior (2) Football League, at Kilcully on Thursday evening, 6th June,2013.
Team Manager,Anthony O"Sullivan, was able to give some game time to several players who will line out with the clubs third team in the City Division (C) Football Championship ,against Bishopstown, on Monday evening, 17th June,2013, at Ballinlough. However, it was a pity that so many of the second string were unavailable for the Rathpeacon game as it was their last match before they face Lough Rovers in the City Division Junior (B) Football Championship ,at Ballinlough, on Saturday evening, 15th June,2013.
Goals on either side of half-time helped Rathpeacon to the points in this League game which was Brian Dillons second loss from six games played. What was most encouraging for Brian Dillons was the brave second half performance when it looked like they might be swamped when Rathpeacon scored their second goal , four minutes after the restart, which gave them a lead of 2-11 to 0-6 lead.  For the remainder of the game Brian Dillons outscored their opponents, 0-7 to 0-3, and full credit to them for not throwing in the towel and for making  the second half most competitive.  Scorers for Brian Dillons were;James Murphy,0-5 (0-1 free);John Noonan,0-4; Seanie O"Dwyer,0-2 (0-1 free); Damian Horgan, Kevin Coughlan and Eric O"Donoghue ,0-1 each.
