The Brian Dillons under-21 Hurling team were well beaten by St.Vincents in the City Division under-21 Hurling Championship semi-final, which was played in Ballinlough on Sunday morning, 23rd September, 2012. The final score was 3-18 to 0-12. This was a most disappointing performance by the Brian Dillons team who were struggling all over the field against an excellent St. Vincents side. The opening exchanges of the game were closely contested and after 12 minutes the sides were level at 0-2 each. Then, one minute later, St.Vincents got through for their first goal and proceeded to dictate matters all over the park for the remainder of the game. Two further first-half goals gave St.Vincents a commanding 3-7 to 0-7 interval lead and left Brian Dillons with a mountain to climb in the second-half. The St. Vincents dominance continued unabated in the second half and ,at the finish, Brian Dillons were a well beaten side. Although they did not add any further goals, St. Vincents outscored their opponents by 0-11 to 0-5 in the second-half. We wish St. Vincents the best of luck in the final, in which they will meet Nemo Rangers.
