                      The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Footballers recorded a comfortable ten point victory over Na Piarsaigh in the City Division Junior (1) Football League, at Pairc Diolunaigh, on Sunday morning, 28th April, 2013. The final score was; Brian Dillons, 2-12; Na Piarsaigh, 0-8;
                     While never playing to their full potential, this was a satisfactory win for Brian Dillons, who have a first round Championship game with St. Michaels, coming up on next Saturday week, 11th May. Once again, a chilly easterly breeze was blowing out in Pairc Diolunaigh, during this game and Brian Dillons had the advantage of it in the opening half hour. However, it was Na Piarsaigh who got the opening score when they pointed in the opening minute. Brian Dillons were struggling to get to grips with the game in the early stages and they had to wait until the sixth minute for their opening score. And what a spectacular score it was. Full -forward John Horgan won possession out on the right wing and raced towards goal,attracting the attention of several Na Piarsaigh defenders. Then ,he parted to the unmarked Mark Buckley at the edge of the square,who duly billowed the back of the Na Piarsaigh net with a rasping shot for a great goal. This score settled the Brian Dillons team and with some splendid points they had surged into 1-7 to 0-3 interval lead.
                     Na Piarsaigh, now with wind advantage,notched the opening two points in the second- half to which Brian Dillons replied with two John Horgan pointed frees. Midway through the second half , Brian Dillons put the game beyond Na Piarsaigh when they scored their second goal. Shane Maher was hauled down in the square and a penalty was awarded. Regular penalty taker, Cillian Brosnan, who lined out in goal due to both "keepers in the panel, James Kirby and Tom Holohan, out injured, duly finished to the net from the penalty spot which put Brian Dillons ahead, 2-9 to 0-5.. The ciosing quarter saw both sides share six points which saw Brian Dillons winning comfortably by a ten point margin.
               Scorers for Brian Dillons were; John Horgan, 0-8, (0-5 frees );Mark Buckley,1-0; Cillian Brosnan,1-0; Philip O"Brien, 0-2; Niall Fahy and Darragh Brosnan ,0-1 each.     Brian Dillons are in action again on Bank Holiday Monday, 6th May, when they play Bishopstown in another League game, their last outing before they face St.Michaels ,in the Championship, on the following Saturday.
