The Brian Dillons Junior (B) Footballers produced a powerful second -half performance which snuffed out the challenge of Whites Cross in the City Division Junior(2) Football League which was played in Whites Cross on Tuesday evening ,10th July,2012.
Forced to field an understrengh side ,due to various reasons, this was a good result for the Brian Dillons side, which keeps their chances of qualifying for the knockout stage of the League very much alive. The opening half of this game was very much controlled by Whites Cross ,with the depleted Brian Dillons side, showing their lack of Football games due to recent Hurling activities, playing second fiddle for most of the half hour. Whites Cross led by 1-3 to 0-2 after 20 minutes even though playing into a stiff breeze and  looked  likely winners at that stage. However, the Brian Dillons side ,now playing much better.knocked over three points,to leave just a solitary point between the sides ,1-3 to 0-5,at the interval.
With wind advantage in the second -half, Whites Cross looked set to emerge victorious but, it was the Brian Dillons side which produced a powerful and spirited performance that had their opponents on the back foot for most of the half. It took sixteen minutes to have the first score of the second -half  and it was the Brian Dillons centre-back and Captain, Tommy Boland, who kicked the levelling point after a good passing movement. With the Brian Dillons mid-field pairing of Stuart Crichton and Eamonn McCarthy now winning good possession ,and defenders,James Murphy,Andrew Murphy,Tommy Boland and Cian Crowley now setting up continuous attacks, they raced into a 2-8 to 1-3 lead  with the goals coming from Tom Holohan and excellent sub. Andrew Daly, Whites Cross had to wait until the 28th minute for their first point of the second-half and they ciosed the scoring ,in the 30th minute.with a similar score to leave the full-time score reading; Brian Dillons,2-8; Whites Cross,1-5.
              The Brian Dillons scorers were as follows; Tom Holohan.1-3;Andrew Daly,1-0; Stuart Crichton,0-2 (0-1 free; 0-1 "45 ) Tommy Boland,0-1; Mark Buckley,0-1 and Dave O" Donoghue,0-1.
Next up for the Brian Dillons Junior (B) Footballers is on next Monday evening,16th July,2012, when they face Ballyphehane in another League game at home,in Pairc Diolunaigh,@ 7.30pm.
