At a bitterly cold and windswept Pairc Ui Chonaill; in Cobh, on Easter Monday afternoon, 1st April, 2013, the Brian Dillons Minor Hurlers got their 2013 Hurling League campaign off to a winning start with an impressive, 2-18 to 3-7, victory over the home side.
Playing against the gale force wind in the opening half, Brian Dillons laid the foundations for this win when they managed to go in at half -time on level terms, 1-5 each. The brilliance of the Brian Dillons goalkeeper, Mark Sheedy, was one of the highlights of the first half with Darren McGrath , at full-back, also outstanding.  A goal by Keith McCormick and some splendid points from Adam Cotter, Kieran Delaney and Eric O"Donoghue had Brian Dillons in a strong position as they turned to play the second half with the advantage of the breeze.
A string of well taken points pushed Brian Dillons into a 1-11 to 1-5 lead after ten minutes of the second half , before Cobh opened their account with a goal in the eleventh minute. This setback did not upset the Brian Dillons side who continued to play impressively and with five minutes remaining they had scorched into a 2-16 to 2-6 lead.  Cobh did manage a further 1-1 in the closing few minutes but, the Brian Dillons side closed the scoring with two further points from Eric O"Donoghue and the brilliant Keith McCormick.
As already mentioned the Brian Dillons "keeper, Mark Sheedy, was in great form with Darren McGrath, Ryan Burns and John Kenny also playing extremely well in defence.  Keith McCormick was awesome at midfield ,ably assisted by the industrious Andrew White, while Adam Cotter, Eric O"Donoghue and Kieran Delaney picked off some spendid scores.
