Minor Footballers Record Great Win Over Bride Rovers in Championship.

                      After an eight goal thrilling hours football the Brian Dillons Minor Footballers recorded a thrilling, 4-13 to 4-8, victory over the East Cork side, Bride Rovers, in the Rebel Og County Minor Football Championship ,which was played at Whitechurch on Friday evening, 19th July, 2013. Thus, Brian Dillons maintained their unbeaten record in this seasons Football competitions and as this game was also played for League points, they are now undisputed leaders at the top of the table..
                   From the throw-in ,Brian Dillons gained possession and worked the ball upfield to corner-forward, Brian Manning, who duly pointed with less than thirty seconds gone on the clock,but Bride Rovers were level a minute later. The Football was extremely exciting at this stage  and after another Brian Manning point, the Brian Dillons side got a great boost when the impressive Andrew White finished the ball to the net for a great goal after five minutes.  The Bride Rovers response was quick and decisive with a goal of their own ,two minutes later, and after an exchange of points, worse was to follow for Brian Dillons, when a second goal for the East Cork side pushed them into the lead for the first time in the twelfth minute....2-2 to 1-3. However, Brian Dillons were playing with great confidence and after Andrew White pointed, they were back in the lead again after Brian Manning goaled...2-4 to 2-2 after seventeen minutes. Three minutes later a Bride Rovers point left the minimum between the sides but a storming finish to the half by Brian Dillons which yielded two goals, one each from Brian Manning, again , and Eric O"Donoghue, had them ,4-5 to 2-4, ahead at the interval. 
                Brian Dillons went further ahead with points from Eric O"Donoghue and Andrew White in the first two minutes of the second half but a goal , in the third minute, for Bride Rovers gave them renewed hope.  Shortly after, Bride Rovers were awarded a penalty, but, the Brian Dillons "keeper, Mark Sheedy, made a great save , which was a decisive moment in the game.. From that moment on, Brian Dillons never looked like losing control of the game and with Darren McGrath and Keith McCormick excelling in defence, Mark Kelly on top at midfield and Eric O"Donoghue continuing to put over some fine points, they had raced into a 4-13 to 3-8 at the end of normal time. In the two minutes of additional time, Bride Rovers finally breached the Dillons defence for a consolation goal, which left the final score reading, Brian Dillons. 4-13; Bride Rovers, 4-8.   Scorers for Brian Dillons were;  Eric O"Donoghue, 1-5; Brian Manning, 2-2; Andrew White, 1-2; Darren McGrath, 0-2 (frees); Mark Kelly and Kieran Delaney, 0-1 each.
