The Brian Dillons Minor Footballers gave a most encouraging performance in the opening game of the Rebel Og Minor Football League despite losing to Shamrocks, 3-6 to 1-3, at Shanbally on Saturday, 1st March, 2014.  Winners of this League last year, Brian Dillons are fielding a mainly young team this season as they have lost a good number of their stronger players who are ineligible for the Minor Grade in 2014. In a well contested game which was in the balance  with ten minutes remaining  when Shamrocks were narrowly ahead by 2-2 to 1-3, and then were awarded a harsh penalty which was converted . The remaining ten minutes saw the spirited Brian Dillons challenge fade, which allowed Shamrocks to close out the game with four late points. Still, a fairly good display by Brian Dillons, away from home. Their next outing in the Minor Football League is on Saturday week next, 15th March, 2014, when they have Clondrohid as visitors to the Tank Field.. The Brian Dillons scorers against Shamrocks were;  Gavin Walsh,1-0; Eric O"Donoughue, 0-2; and Ethan Keane,0-1 (free) .    The team lined out as follows; Mark Sheedy;  Ryan Burns; Michael Feehan; Thomas McGrath; Andrew Whyte; John Kenny; Ethan Keane; Adam Cotter; Eric O"Donoghue; Jordan Ahern; Gavin Walsh; Sean Horgan;  Subs (used); Colm Wright; Sam Coleman and Leon Carroll.
