                     A powerful second -half by the Brian Dillons Junior (C) Football team was instrumental in their 1-9 to 1-6 victory over Delanys in the 2nd replay of the City Division Junior (C) Football Championship which was played in Pairc Diolunaigh on Friday evening,3rd August,2012.
                    Trailing by 0-4 to 1-5,at the interval, the Brian Dillons side completely dominated the second - half proceedings, outscoring Delanys by 1-5 to 0-1.  The game started in exciting fashion with Brian Dillons attacking from the throw -in and after an excellent movement  which left Stephen Crowley one on one with the Delanys "keeper only to see his bullet-like drive rebound off the crossbar which prevented a certain goal.  Delanys worked the ball upfield, after this let-off and in their first attack they had the ball in the net to put them a goal ahead after less than a minute of play. Brian Dillons were four points in arrears when Delanys added a point in the fourth minute to which Shane Maher replied with a similar score to open Brian Dillons account after five minutes.  Delanys added four more points to their first half tally to which Brian Dillons replied with points from Kevin Allen (2) and one from Stephen Crowley to leave the half-time score reading; Brian Dillons,0-4; Delanys,1-5;
                 The second -half began with Brian Dillons applying plenty of pressure on the Delanys defence and, after an early goal chance was missed, they eventually found the net when mid -fielder, Mark Kelly blasted the ball past the Delanys "keeper in the 34th minute, to leave just a point between the teams.  Delanys added a point ,a minute later, and this proved to be their only score in the second-half with the Brian Dillons defence tightening up considerably and their rearranged mid-field pairing of Mark Kelly and James O"Shea winning plenty of possession in the middlle of the park.The Brian Dillons forwards,now with a plentiful supply of the ball, gave the Delanys defence a torrid time with young Minor player, Kevin Allen, being particularly prominent.  Five more points were added in the second-half to leave Brian Dillons winners on a 1-9 to 1-6 scoreline.
               The Brian Dillons mentors will be well pleased with this victory and will look forward, with confidence, to the quarter-final of this particular championship on Monday,13th August when Nemo Rangers will provide the opposition in Ballinlough. Some astute switches certainly helped in the win over Delanys with Adam O*Halloran,who began at midfield,performing impeccably when switched to full-back for the second-half.  Others to do well in the Brian Dillons defence were goalkeeper, Paul McCarthy,Dylan O"Donoghue and James Varian. As already mentioned Mark Kelly and James O"Shea (both still Minor players) were on top at mid-field in the second-half while Derek Whelan ,at centre -forward, showed all his experience in bringing other players into the game . Kevin Allen, Stephen Crowley and Shane Maher can feel well pleased with their scoring efforts.
            Scorers for Brian Dillons were; Kevin Allen,0-5; Mark Kelly,1-0; Shane Maher,0-2; and Stephen Crowley,0-2,(0-1 free)
