The Brian Dillons Junior (B) Hurling team encountered little difficulty in overcoming St.Vincents in the opening round of the City Division Junior (B) Hurling Championship, which was played in Ballinlough,on Sunday morning, 29th June,2014. The final score was, Brian Dillons (B),5-23; St.Vincents,(B) 0-6. Fielding a particularly strong fifteen, which included twelve players who played for the clubs (A) team, in recent years, Brian Dillons showed no mercy for their opponents, particularly in the second half. After a tentative opening quarter in which they were ahead by 1-3 to 0-2, Brian Dillons eventually, got to grips with the usual spirited play of St.Vincents and pulled away in the closing fifteen minutes of the first half to lead,2-8 to 0-5, at the interval, with the goals coming from Kevin Varian and Ken McCarthy. The second half of the game saw Brian Dillons in complete control from start to finish, adding a further 3-15 to their half-time score, while St.Vincents only reply was a pointed free. The second- half goals came from James O"Shea and super subs, James Murphy and Kyle Corcoran.
