The Brian Dillons Junior (B) Hurling team are through to the semi-final of the City Division Junior (B) Hurling Championship by virtue of their 1-18 to 1-9 victory over Nemo Rangers ,which was played in Ballinlough on Friday evening,6th July,2012.
Although Brian Dillons eventually won by a nine point margin, they were made battle all the way by a tenacious Nemo side ,who were only a point behind with ten minutes remaining in the game. However, a storming finish ,which yielded 1-5,saw the Brian Dillons side emerge as convincing winners and advance to the semi-final of the competition  where they will meet the winners of the Rathpeacon/ Bishopstown quarter-final clash.
Brian Dillons began the game in impressive style and after 18 minutes play they had raced into a 0-7 to 0-3 lead even though playing into the teeth of the wind and rain. Nemo got through for a goal in the nineteenth minute and a pointed "65 had them on level terms after 20 minutes. However, a flurry of impressive points had Brian Dillons back in front by 0-11 to 1-4 at the interval.
Two quick points in the opening three minutes of the second -half pushed Brian Dillons further ahead and ,now with wind advantage,it looked like they would emerge as easy winners. However, a battling performance by Nemo ,which saw them score five unanswered points, left only a point between the sides after 20 minutes of the second-half had elapsed. Brian Dillons had their first score,in 17 minutes when Mark Buckley pointed and a minute later the Nemo challenge was finally snuffed out when Stuart Crichton scored a fine goal. Four further points in the closing seven minutes saw the Brian Dillons run out convincing winners but, team Manager, Anthony O"Sullivan will be concerned about the huge amount of wide balls that his side chalked up in the second-half..Still,he will be satisfied with the overall performance of the team, who had to line out without John O"Herlihy, Dave Whelan,Chris Daly (all out injured) and James Horgan (holidays).
       The Brian Dillons scorers were;Kevin Varian,0-7 (0-4frees); Andrew Murphy,0-4;Stuart Crichton,1-0; Kevin Couglan,0-2; Mark Buckley,0-2; Cian Crowley,0-1; Michael Noonan,0-1; and Michael Colohan,0-1.
