Junior (B) Hurlers are too Strong for Ballyphehane in League

                        The Brian Dillons second string proved way too strong for a game Ballyphehane side in the City Division Junior (2) Hurling League which was played in Pairc Diolunaigh on Friday evening, 19th April, 2013.  The final score was; Brian Dillons (B),1-16; Ballyphehane, 1-4.;
                     While never scaling the heights they reached in their previous game, when they beat St.Finbarrs, 4-17 to 1-5 , the Brian Dillons side were never troubled in this game even though Ballyphehane were first to score with a point in the third minute.  Scoring was proving difficult in this first half which could be blamed on the torrential rain which was falling throughout most of the half.. However, Brian Dillons finished the first half with some impressive points and at the interval they led by 0-12 to 0-2.
                   A Seanie O"Dwyer goal pushed Brian Dillons further ahead after five minutes of the second half, 1-12 to 0-2, and the game was done and dusted. Credit to Ballyphehane for their battling qualities for the remainder of the game when they curtailed the Brian Dillons scoring to just four points while scoring 1-2 themselves. Good defensive performances for Brian Dillons were given by Stephen Kearney, James Murphy, Ken McCarthy, who was brilliant at centre half back, and Dave Whelan. At midfield , James O"Shea and Shane Maher were always on top while Damian Horgan, Tommy Boland and Seanie O"Dwyer worked tirelessly in attack.  The next outing for Brian Dillons, in this competition, is on next Monday evening, 22nd April, when they are away to Lough Rovers with a 7.30pm throw-in.
               The Brian Dillons scorers against Ballyphehane were; James Horgan,0-7, (0-1 free); Seanie O"Dwyer,1-1; Kevin Varian,0-3,(0-1 free); Tommy Boland,0-2; James O"Shea, 0-2; and Shane Maher,0-1;
