The Brian Dillons Junior (B) Footballers, without a game since 2nd May, resumed their City Division Junior Football League (2) campaign with a 3-11 to 2-6 victory over Bishopstown ,which was played on Saturday evening,30th June,2012, in Bishopstown. Bishopstown,playing with the advantage of a strong breeze,were the dominant side in the opening quarter of this game when they raced into a 0-4 to 0-2 lead. A brilliant goal by Shane Maher, after 20 minutes play, gave Brian Dillons the lead for the first time in the game. However, the lead was short -lived as Bishopstown replied with a goal ,almost,immediatley. It was 1-5 to 1-4 in favour of Bishopstown,at the interval. Brian Dillons were in control during the second-half when they added 2-7 to their half -time tally while their defence,with Seanie O"Dwyer (goalkeeper), James Murphy,Dylan O"Donoghue and James Varian prominent,only conceded 1-1 to Bishopstown. The Brian Dillons goals in this half came from Eamonn McCarthy,after great work by Mark Buckley, and a second goal from Shane Maher. This win keeps Brian Dillons well in contention for a place in the knock-out stages of this League and their next outing in this competition is on Tuesday,10th May, when they meet Whites Cross, in Whites Cross.
