After a twelve week break from Football activity, the last game was played on 6th May, the Brian Dillons second string Junior Football team resumed their City Division Junior (2) League campaign with a ,2-12 to 2-10, victory over St.Vincents, which was played up in Pairc Uinsinn on Tuesday evening, 29th July, 2014. In a game which saw the first and last score being goals from the penalty spot, Brian Dillons laid the foundations for this victory with a solid first half performance when playing against a very strong breeze. They opened the scoring, after two minutes play, when Seanie O"Dwyer expertly tucked away a fine goal from the penalty spot. and when Eric O"Donoghue careered through the St. Vincents defence to score a brilliant goal, after twenty minutes, Brian Dillons were in a good position when they trailed by the minimum margin, 2-1 to 0-8, at the interval and turning around with the strong breeze in their favour. Three points in the opening seven minutes pushed Dillons ahead, 2-4 to 0-8, but, they were rocked when St.Vincents took the lead again, when they scored their opening goal ,after ten minutes of the second half. However, Brian Dillons, with midfielders, Michael Colohan and Mark Kelly ,supplying the forwards with plenty of quality ball, took command of the game with a flurry of well taken points which left them leading by 2-12 to 1-10 with time almost up.
