Junior (B) Footballers lose to Whitechurch in League.

Fielding without seven of their championship fifteen, the Brian Dillons Junior (B) Footballers were not strong enough for a very good Whitechurch team in the Junior (2) Football League game which was played in Pairc Diolunaigh, on Wednesday evening, 12th September, 2012. The final score was ; Whitechurch, 2-18; Brian Dillons (B), 3-5.
Whitechurch controlled matters for most of the game, playing good intelligent football and even though they had played against a very strong breeze ,in the opening half, they still commanded a lead of 0-9 to 1-2, at the interval. Brian Dillons, who had their first-half goal scored by Seanie O"Dwyer, fielded five players who had helped the clubs third string in the (C) championship win over Rochestown, the previous night and they struggled to gain control in a most disappointing opening half.
They did make efforts to get back into the game ,in the early stages of the second -half, when John Noonan scored a great goal and after seven minutes play they only trailed by a point,..0-11 to 2-4. However, Whitechurch responded with a goal of their own and with a further brace of points they led by 1-13 to 2-4 after fifteen minutes of the second -half.. Brian Dillons were still in the game when sub., Dave O"Donoghue goaled from the penalty spot with thirteen minutes remaining.  It was all Whitechurch for the remainder of the game as the fight seemed to go out of the Brian Dillons side.   Adding some delightful points against a tiring Brian Dillons team, Whitechurch put the icing on their cake with their second goal in the closing seconds of the game.
Brian Dillons still have a chance of reaching the semi-final of this League if they can win their last remaining against Douglas (B), which is fixed for Saturday, 22nd September, 2012.
The Brian Dillons scorers against Whitechurch were as follows; Dave O"Donoghue,1-2,(1-0,pen.,0-1 free) John Noonan, 1-1;  Seanie O"Dwyer,1-0; James O"Shea and Kevin Varian,0-1 each.
