Brian Dillons qualified for the semi-final of the Cork County Junior (A) Hurling Championship with a 1-16 to 2-6 victory over Ballinhassig in the quarter-final ,which was played in Carrigaline on Saturday afternoon, 29th September,2012.
In a game which Brian Dillons never looked like losing, a huge improvement is required  if Grenagh are to be overcome in next Saturdays semi-final.  Brian Dillons were comfortably leading Ballinhassig,1-9 to 0-2, after twenty four minutes of the first -half when they allowed their opponents to get back into the game by conceding 1-2 in the closing minutes of the half which left 5 points between the teams ,at the interval.
Ballinhassig scored the opening two points of the second half and ,at this stage, it was not looking good for Brian Dillons. However, as they did in the City final, Brian Dillons upped their performance,as the half progressed, and with a string of well-taken points, they eased into a 1-14 to 1-6 lead ,with just five minutes remaining. Then, once again, ,Ballinhassig were allowed back into the game, when Brian Dillons conceded their second goal to leave the score  1-14 to 2-6,with four minutes remaining.  Two massive points by John Horgan, who had a superb game, closed the scoring to leave Brian Dillons comfortable winners at the finish.
While not performing as well as they did against Mayfield in the City final, Brian Dillons did have several excellent players in this victory.
The defence, the two goals aside, were always on top with Daniel McCormick and Darragh Brosnan particularly brilliant.  Tomas Lawrence did trogan work at midfield as well as slipping over two fine points. John Horgan continued his incredible scoring rate by chalking up a mammoth 1-12 , 1-3 from play, with his closing three points from way out around midfield being outstanding scores.   Brian Barrett  had another tremendous game with his aerial catches a great advantage and he set up the goal for John Horgan with an astute hand pass, also.
Seventeen year old, Keith McCormick, worked tirelessly all -through as well as putting over a fine point while Philip O"Brien and John Noonan also, had their moments in the attack.
Scorers for Brian Dillons were;  John Horgan, 1-12 (0-8 frees, 0-1 "65 ); Tomas Lawrence,0-2; Keith McCormick and John Noonan, 0-1 each.
