Nemo are definitely proving to be a bogey team for Brian Dillons, as they are the only team to have beaten them ,this year, in the Championship semi-final, back in September and now, again, in last Sundays League semi-final. Sundays game was a tough, hard hitting ,struggle, played in heavy underfoot conditions, with the greater physicality and discipline of Nemo proving decisive in the end. The winners opened the scoring with a point in the first minute but, two points in a row, one from a free, by John Horgan pushed Brian Dillons a point ahead ,after four minutes play. A magnificent point, direct from a sideline cut,had Nemo back on level terms, two minutes later, but, however, another point from a John Horgan free restored Brian Dillons one point advantage, in the eight minute. The closeness of the game continued and it was Nemo"s turn to put over two points in a row, one from a free, which had them back in the lead, but it was all square again ,when Cillian Brosnan fired over for Brian Dillons, after twelve minutes play. It was then that Nemo began to put some daylight between the teams, scoring three points in a row, one from a free, 0-7 to 0-4 ,after fifteen minutes. John Horgan pulled on back ,from a long range free, after twenty one minutes, but, with Nemo beginning to dominate ,at this stage, three unanswered points, one from a free, pushed them into an 0-10 to 0-5 lead ,with six minutes left in the first half. However, Brian Dillons were right back in the game, one minute later, when John Horgan billowed the back of the Nemo net, after a great assist from Shane Maher, which left only two points between the teams.. Brian Dillons failed to capitalise on this score with their forwards failing to score in the closing five minutes of the first half and allowing Nemo to score their goal in injury time ,which saw them leading by 1-10 to 1-5, at the interval. Nemo were first to score in the second half with a point, from a free, in the first minute, which had them six points ahead, the biggest gap between the teams , in the entire game. Brian Dillons then, began to enjoy a period of dominance,, and with points from Cian McCarthy, who was looking very dangerous, Tomas Lawrence, after a pass from John Horgan, and from a "65 by John Horgan, they were trailing by just three points, 1-11 to 1-8, after five minutes of the second period. One minute later, a Nemo pointed free pushed them four ahead again but Brian Dillons replied with points from Tomas Lawrence and John Horgan which had them trailing by two points, 1-12 to 1-10 ,with fifteen minutes remaining. Nemo restored their three point advantage with a point in the 46th minute, but, however, points from Tomas Lawrence and John Horgan (free) had Brian Dillons behind by the minimum, with ten minutes still remaining. In a tense finish to the game, Brian Dillons failed to add to their total, and recorded some poor wide balls while, Nemo, in two breakaways ,in injury time, slotted over two insurance points , which gave them a deserved , 1-15 to 1-12 victory. The Brian Dillons scorers were; John Horgan, 1-7 (0-4 frees, 0-1 "65 ); Tomas Lawrence, 0-3; Cillian Brosnan and Cian McCarthy, 0-1 each.
