In deplorable weather conditions of driving rain and gale-force winds the Brian Dillons Junior (A) Hurlers continued their unbeaten run in the City Division 2012 Junior (1) Hurling League with a 1-13 to 0-6 victory over Bishopstown, which was played in Pairc Diolunaigh on Thursday evening, June 7th,2012.
In a game which was more a test of endurance than skill, the Brian Dillons side faced the elements in the opening half , A sturdy defence made it extremely difficult for the Bishopstown forwards to chalk up any sort of a commanding lead and at the interval the Brian Dillons side were only trailing by a solitary point, 0-5 to 0-4.
With the wind in their favour in the second-half, Brian Dillons took control of proceedings but ,any hope of amassing a huge score was made impossible due to the swirling wind which made accuracy difficult. However,by adding another 1-9 to their half-time score and conceding only a solitary point, Brian Dillons emerged comfortable winners to remain unbeaten ,after six games,on top of the League Table.
Next up for Brian Dillons is the first round Hurling Championship game against Whites Cross, which is fixed for FridayJune,15th, at Ballinlough with a 7.15pm throw-in.
