The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Hurlers, despite fielding a very much understrength team, still recorded a relatively easy win over Whites Cross in the City Division Junior (1) Hurling League, at Pairc Diolunaigh on Monday evening, 27th May, 2013. The final score was Brian Dillons, 1-19; Whites Cross, 1-6.

             Although the Brian Dillons performance appeared sluggish ,at times, there was no doubting their superiority in this game. After allowing Whites Cross the perfect start ,with a goal, in the fourth minute, Brian Dillons responded with an equalising John Noonan goal less than 30 seconds later. With Tomas Lawrence and young Keith McCormick winning plenty of possession ,at midfield, Brian Dillons began to chalk up the points and although playing into the stiff breeze, they still led, 1-9 to 1-3, at the interval.  A further ten points were added in the second half but the wides tally reached fourteen which could not have pleased Manager,Kieran O"Mahony and his co-selectors. A huge improvement will be required in this department if the Brian Dillons team are to successfully surmount the tricky first-round Championship hurdle  with Douglas next week. Scorers for Brian Dillons were; Niall O"Sullivan, 0-11,(0-7 frees );Tomas Lawrence,0-4; John Noonan,1-0; Keith McCormick, 0-2;and Dave Coughlan,0-2.

             Last week there were two further League games played by the Brian Dillons Junior (1) and Junior (2) teams in the City Division League but no full match reports are available for these games as I was away on holidays. However, through the kindnes of Willie Murphy , some statistics were recorded and they are a follows;  On Monday evening, 20th May, 2013, the Brian Dillons Junior (B) Hurlers played a thrilling draw with Mayfield in the City Division Junior (2) Hurling League ,at Pairc Diolunaigh. The final score was; Brian Dillons (B),0-13; Mayfield (B),1-10; with the sides level, 0-4 each, at the interval, also. The Brian Dillons scorers were; Kevin Varian,0-10 (0-5 frees, 0-1 "65 ) Brian Barrett,0-2 and Dave Cremin,0-1;

             On Wednesday evening, 22nd May,2013, the Brian Dillons Junior (A) Hurlers suffered their first defeat of the season when they went under to Na Piarsaigh in the City Division Junior (1) Hurling League,at Pairc Diolunaigh,  The final score was ; Brian Dillons, 0-15; Na Piarsaigh, 3-9. This was a reasonably good performance by the Brian Dillons team considering they were ,again, forced to field without several of their first choice players. Two late Na Piarsaigh goals from 21-yard frees gave victory to the Fair Hill team when it seemed that Brian Dillons were about to emerge victorious.  The Brian Dillons scorers were;John Horgan,0-9, (0-6 frees); Tomas Lawrence,0-2; John Noonan, 0-2; Kevin Coughlan,0-1; and Niall O"Sullivan,0-1.
