Ballygarvan,on the other hand, were less wasteful in front of goal, and after twenty five minutes , they had built up a 0-5 to 0-1 lead. However, Brian Dilllons finished the half in splendid fashion with two cracking goals from Dave O"Leary and Darragh Brosnan respectively, which had them two points ahead, 2-1 to 0-5, at the interval. Ballygarvan had the opening score of the second half, with a pointed free, after five minutes, and then, Brian Dillons suffered a severe blow to their chances when centre half back, Cian McCarthy, who was performing brilliantly, was forced to retire with a leg injury. Almost immediately after Cian left the field, Ballygarvan struck for their goal which pushed them into the lead again.. Brian Dillons battled gallantly for the remainder of the game, but it was obvious that Ballygarvan, who just contested the County Junior (A) Football Championship semi-final on the previous Saturday, were more sharper and fitter and they finished the game with four points to spare.....1-11 to 2-4.
