                  The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Footballers, making their first appearance in the County Junior (A) Football League competition, suffered a four point defeat to the Carrigdhoun representatives, Ballygarvan, in the quarter-final which was played out in Pairc Diolunaigh on Wednesday evening, 15th October, 2014. The final score was; Brian Dillons, 2-4; Ballygarvan, 1-11;
                 Lining out without five players , Cillian Brosnan,John Noonan, Dave Cremin, Mark Walsh and Shane Maher,that started in the Championship defeat to Passage ,back in early September, Brian Dillons competed well in the opening half of this game but they will bemoan the missing of three easy goal opportunities in the opening quarter.   Ballygarvan,on the other hand, were less wasteful in front of goal, and after twenty five minutes , they had built up a 0-5 to 0-1 lead.  However, Brian Dilllons finished the half in splendid fashion with two cracking goals from Dave O"Leary and Darragh Brosnan respectively, which had them two points ahead, 2-1 to 0-5, at the interval.
               Ballygarvan had the opening score of the second half, with a pointed free, after five minutes, and then, Brian Dillons suffered a severe blow to their chances when centre half back, Cian McCarthy, who was performing brilliantly, was forced to retire with a leg injury.  Almost immediately after Cian left the field, Ballygarvan struck for their goal which pushed them into the lead again.. Brian Dillons battled gallantly for the remainder of the game, but it was obvious that Ballygarvan, who just contested the County Junior (A) Football Championship semi-final on the previous Saturday, were more sharper and fitter and they finished the game with four points to spare.....1-11 to 2-4.      Scorers for Brian Dillons were; Dave O"Leary, 1-2 (0-1 free); Darragh Brosnan, 1-0; Tomas Lawrence and Darren McGrath ,0-1 each.  The Brian Dillons team lined out as follows;  James Kirby; Michael Noonan; Edmund Hussey; Andrew Murphy; Niall Fahy; Cian McCarthy; Chris Daly; Darragh Brosnan; Colm O"Connor; Philip O"Brien; Tomas Lawrence; Darren McGrath; Dave O"Leary; Danny Murphy and Dave O"Donoghue ; Subs; Martin Corbett for Cian McCarthy (Injured, 36 mins.); Dave Coughlan for Dave O"Donoghue (50 mins )
