City Division Junior (1) Football League Champions of 2013, Brian Dillons, remain at the top of this seasons competition, as a result of their ten point victory over Na Piarsaigh, on Monday night, 29th September, 2014, which was played up in Na Piarsaigh Ground. The final score, after a most entertaining game of Football was,Brian Dillons, 4-16; Na Piarsaigh, 4-6. Brian Dillons have now played ten games, winning eight, drawn one and losing one, which gives them 17 points, with one game remaining against Douglas, which is fixed for next Sunday morning.. Whites Cross are also on 17 points, after completing their program, but, a ten point better scoring average,has Brian Dillons commanding top spot on the League Table. Monday nights game, which produced eight goals, was played at a fast and furious pace with Brian Dillons always in control, although the young Na Piarsaigh side, comprising of most of their Premier Minor team, rattled in four magnificent goals in the closing ten minutes to leave ten points between the teams, at the finish. From the total scores of 8 goals, 22 points, only three came from placed balls, 0-1 for Brian Dillons and 1-1 for Na Piarsaigh. At the end of the first half, Brian Dillons enjoyed a ,0-9 to 0-4, lead with impressive points from Darren McGrath (three),Tomas Lawrence (two); Michael Colohan (two) and one each from John Noonan and Brian Manning. In the opening minute of the second half, Brian Dillons took a firm grip on the game, when Cillian Brosnan, who had been switched from midfield to full-forward, buried the ball in the back of the Na Piarsaigh net , for a great goal, after a splendid assist from the outstanding Tomas Lawrence, who ,added a point , a minute later. Then, in the third minute of the second half, Brian Dillons were leading by1-11 to 0-4, when Darragh Brosnan slotted over a fine point. Na Piarsaigh had their opening point of the second half, in the sixth minute, but,in a blistering ten minute spell of brilliant attacking football , Brian Dillons made sure of victory. Tomas Lawrence, who was in devastating form ,added a goal and two points and further goals from Cillian Brosnan and attacking corner back, Andrew Murphy , pushed Brian Dillons into a 4-13 to 0-6 lead, with ten minutes remaining. The lively Na Piarsaigh forwards were not going down without a fight , however, and with three splendid goals in as many minutes, they had reduced the deficit to ten points, 4-13 to 3-6., with seven minutes left to play. Brian Dillons responded with three further points from Dave Coughlan (one) and two from Tomas Lawrence, one from a free, to which Na Piarsaigh replied with a stunning goal, from a 13 metre free kick, in the dying seconds of the game, which left Brian Dillons ten points ahead at the finish..
