Junior (A) Footballers Record Impressive League Victory Over Nemo.

           The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Footballers were impressive winners over Nemo Rangers in the City Division Junior (1) Football League game, which was played in Pairc Diolunaigh on Wednesday evening, 16th April, 2014.  The final score was , Brian Dillons, 3-15; Nemo Rangers, 2-7 
          Forced to lineout without several regulars due to injuries and work committments,the Brian Dillons Team Manager, Alan Whelan, experimented by playing some players in different positions for this game and he can feel well pleased with the teams performance.  The new look full-back trio of Martin Corbett, Tom Triggs and Andrew Murphy showed up well with the latter two playing in those positions for the first time in competitive fare. Tom Harrington, getting his first start ,this season, impressed in the half-back line with a solid hours football, while the Brosnan brothers were placed in the full-forward line with their height and strength causing many problems for the Nemo defence. Brian Dillons went into an early lead when Cillian Brosnan slotted over a free kick after Tomas Lawrence was hauled down when heading for goal after less than a minutes play. Impressive midfielder, Darren McGrath, added another point from play, two minutes later ,before Nemo opened their account when they pointed a 45 metre free kick, after seven minutes play.. Three minutes later, a splendid movement by the Brian Dillons team saw Tomas Lawrence, bearing down on the Nemo defence,parting to Mark Buckley , who billowed the back of the net for a great goal.  Two further points by John Noonan and Tomas Lawrence pushed Brian Dillons ahead, 1-4 to 0-2, after 18 minutes, but, one minute later, Nemo were ,again, within striking distance when they goaled from the penalty spot.. Brian Dillons were quick to respond from this setback with three consecutive points from Tomas Lawrence, from a Shane Maher pass, and two from Cillian Brosnan, one from a free, which had them leading by 1-7 to 1-2, with eight minutes left in the first half. Nemo reduced the arrears with two points of their own while Darragh Brosnan closed the first half scoring with a point for Brian Dillons ,which had them leading, 1-8 to 1-4, at the interval.
          Nemo had the opening score of the second half, when they pointed in the first minute, but, two minutes later, Brian Dillons had their second goal when Cillian Brosnan got his fist to a high Tomas Lawrence delivery...2-8 to 1-5. Brian Dillons had to wait another 13 minutes for their next score as they continued to waste numerous scoring chances with some wayward shooting, , while Nemo had reduced the arrears with two points, one from a free, during that period. However, Brian Dillons completely dominated the final thirteen minutes, adding a further 1-7 , which allowed Alan Whelan to empty his bench.. The third Brian Dillons goal was scored by impressive substitute, Dave Cremin, who later added a point while Nemo got their second goal in the final seconds of the game.
