The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Footballers recorded a 1-16 to 2-10 victory over Bishopstown in the City Division Junior (1) Football League , at Bishopstown ,on Bank Holiday Monday evening, 6th May, 2013.  Leading by 1-15 to 0-7 with just twelve minutes remaining in the game, Brian Dillons looked set for a runaway victory but an indifferent finish saw them only managing a single point while allowing Bishopstown score 2-3 which made for a nervy ending for the winners.
The first half of this game had Bishopstown playing with the advantage of a stiff breeze , but, Brian Dillons, with Tomas Lawrence and  Darragh Brosnan excelling at midfield and John Horgan and Mark Buckley notching some fine points, were leading ,0-8 to 0-5, at the interval.
The opening quarter of the second half saw Brian Dillons in complete control and with some impressive points and a peach of a goal ,by Tomas Lawrence, they had raced into a 1-15 to 0-7 lead with just twelve minutes remaining. At this stage , the Brian Dillons mentors decided to give the players on the bench a chance to impress and that allied to the injury to Tomas Lawrence saw Bishopstown coming back into the game and by scoring 2-3 they gave Brian Dillons an anxious ending to the proceedings.  With the opening round of the Football Championship against St.Michaels coming up on next Saturday night, Team Manager, Kieran Hanley and his fellow selectors, will be hoping for a much more convincing performance from their players if they are to succeed.  Scorers for Brian Dillons were; John Horgan, 0-6 (0-2 frees);Tomas Lawrence,1-1; Mark Buckley,0-2; Darragh Brosnan,0-2; Niall Fahy, Cian McCarthy, Cillian Brosnan, Chris Daly and Dave O"Donoghue, 0-1 each.
