Impressive Display by Brian Dillons in Junior (1) Hurling League win over Glen.

                              The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Hurlers recorded an impressive, 3-20 to 2-15, victory over Glen Rovers in the City Division Junior (1) Hurling League which was played in the Glen Field on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon, 18th March, 2013.
                              This game was an outstanding spectacle from start to finish with some splendid long range scores, from both sides , and it was played out with a Championship fervour all through. A stirring closing ten minutes, when they were reduced to 14 players, saw Brian Dillons chalk up 1-6 to the Glen"s solitary point which assured a comfortable victory in the end. Brian Dillons were never led in this game after outstanding midfielder, Tomas Lawrence scored the opening two points in the first two minutes of the game.  A goal by Dave Coughlan, after 17 minutes,stretched Brian Dillons lead to 1-6 to 0-4 but a very good Glen outfit were level at the break,1-10 each, with a goal and a point in the last minute of the first half.
                             Brian Dillons opened the scoring in the second half when Cian McCarthy, who had a slendid game at midfield, rifled over a long range point in the first minute and when John Noonan scored an opportunist goal, a minute later, they led by 2-11 to 1-10. The Glen did manage to reduce the deficit with four points to which a point from a "65, by John Horgan had Dillons leading 2-12 to 1-14 after 10 minutes of the second half.  Another pointed free , by John Horgan and another beauty by Cian McCarthy had Brian Dillons ahead by three points with 15 minutes left. Exchanges were very keen, at this stage, with some great hurling from both sides. The excellent Brian Dillons defence were forced to concede a penalty, in the 16th minute, from which the Glen goaled to level the scores, 2-14 each. A minute later, Brian Dillons were reduced to 14 players when right half back, Darragh Brosnan, was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card and it was anxious moments for the Brian Dillons followers.  However, there was no need to worry as the Brian Dillons players responded to this setback with a scinntillating closing 10 minutes. A great goal by Tomas Lawrence, after a great solo run from midfield,and a further six excellent points pushed Brian Dillons into safe pastures while the Glen could only muster a solitary point against a teak tough Dillons defence in the closing 10 minutes.
           The Brian Dillons scorers were; Cian McCarthy,0-6; Tomas Lawrence, 1-3; John Horgan, 0-5 (0-3 frees, 0-1 "65 ) John Noonan, 1-1; Cillian Brosnan,0-2; Dave Coughlan, 1-0; Keith McCormick, Kevin Coughlan and Niall O"Sullivan, 0-1 each.
