Early Injuries Prove Costly To Junior (B) Footballers in League Loss To Mayfield.

                Injuries to John Horgan and Danny Murphy ,which forced their departure, after five minutes of play, proved costly to the Brian Dillons Junior (B) Footballers, as they eventually succumbed to Mayfield in the City Division Junior (2) Football League game, played at Pairc Diolunaigh, on Wednesday evening, 22nd April, 2015. The final score at the end of an entertaining hours football was;  Mayfield,2-11; Brian Dillons (B),2-8.
             Brian Dillons were clearly unsettled after the early loss of two of their most experienced players and Mayfield eased into a four points to nil, after ten minutes of play. However,  a point, from Dave Coughlan and a cracking goal, from Gavin Walsh had Brian Dillons back on level terms, midway through the first half. After 25 minutes had elapsed, Brian Dillons led by 1-4 to 0-5, and then, they suffered another injury blow when substitute, Mark Sheedy, who had scored a fine point, was forced to retire with a knee injury. In the dying seconds of the first half, Mayfield breached the Brian Dillons defence ,to score a fine goal, which gave them a narrow, 1-5 to 1-4, interval lead.
           Brian Dillons were back in the lead in the first minute of the second half, when John Shek scored a fine goal, which put his side ahead, 2-4 to 1-5.  However, it would be another 15 minutes before Brian Dillons would score again, as Mayfield enjoyed a period of dominance, which yielded 1-3, to put them four points ahead, 2-8 to 2-4, with 15 minutes remaining.. Two points from Barry Triggs and another from John Shek, brought Brian Dillons to within a point of Mayfield, 2-8 to 2-7, as the game entered it"s closing ten minutes.. Mayfield were two points ahead with five minutes remaining , as Brian Dillons attacked strongly in search of further scores without success.
