Depleted Junior (B) Hurlers Lose Their Unbeaten League run to Glen Rovers.

                     The Brian Dillons Junior (B) Hurlers suffered their first defeat in this years City Division Junior (2) Hurling League when they were well beaten by Glen Rovers, 3-13 to 1-9, out in Pairc Diolunaigh on Wednesday evening, 31st July, 2013..    However, the Brian Dillons team were way understrength for this game and Manager , Anthony O"Sullivan was fortunate to field fifteen at all . Injuries, holidays and work commitments prevented several players from lining out and the Minor players , on the Junior (B) panel, were not considered as they have a Minor Hurling Championship game on Thursday, 1st August, 2013.
              The opening half of this game saw the depleted Brian Dillons side doing their best to make the game competitive but , suffered another setback ,midway through the half when the experienced James Horgan received a leg injury which severely hampered his mobility and, eventually, forced him to retire. At half-time the Glen led by 2-3 to 1-4, with the Brian Dillons goal coming from the stick of Shane Maher. Glen Rovers ,despite having the lions share of attacking possession ,in this half, found scoring difficult due to the sterling performances of John O*Herlihy,in goal, Derek McDonnell and Dylan O"Donoghue in the Brian Dillons defence.
          The second half saw the Glen get completely on top and with a goal and seven points in the opening quarter they had raced ahead, 3-10 to 1-5, after 15 minutes play. Brian Dillons battled gamely to the finish and they outscored their opponents 0-4 to 0-3, in the final fifteen minutes to leave the score at the end, Glen Rovers, 3-13; Brian Dillons, 1-9.   Scorers for Brian Dillons were; Dylan O"Donoghue, 0-5 (0-2frees); Shane Maher, 1-2; and James Horgan,0-2;
