Brian Dillons Junior Hurling Second String Impress in League win over "Barrs.

                            After a disappointing performance against Whitechurch in their opening game, eight days ago, the Brian Dillons Junior (2) Hurling team got their 2014 League campaign up and running when they displayed impressive form in beating St.Finbarrs(2), out in Pairc Diolunaigh on Monday evening, 31st March, 2014. The final score was Brian Dillons (2), 1-22; St,Finbarrs(2), 2-11.
                          Even though this was a City Division Junior (2) Hurling League game, the quality of the hurling and some superb scores would have done justice to a higher grade. Brian Dillons were quick out of the blocks and went 0-3 to nil ahead ,after four minutes play. The "Barrs clawed two back ,in the next three minutes , and the remainder of the first half was extremely competitive with some fine touches from both sides. Brian Dillons were leading 0-6 to 0-3 , after thirteen minutes, when the Barrs pounced for their first goal, to level the scores.They followed this score with a point, three minutes later, which gave them the lead for the first time. Exchanges were exceptionally tight , at this stage, but, with  midfielders, Ken McCarthy and Kevin Varian, putting in a tremendous amount of good work and half-forward, Dave Coughlan, impeccable from placed balls Brian Dillons, thanks to a flurry of points in the closing five minutes of the first half, went in at half time leading by 0-13 to 1-6.
                         Brian Dillons were rocked in the opening minute of the second half when the "Barrs billowed the back of the net for their second goal,which left the minumum between the sides. The response from Brian Dillons was quick, with two points which left them leading, 0-15 to 2-6.,after five minutes of the second half. Both sides exchanged points , in a hugely entertaining game, in the next fifteen minutes, which saw Brian Dillons leading, 0-20 to 2-10 , with ten minutes left. The "Barrs challenge seemed to to fade,as the Brian Dillons defence , in which corner back, Stephen Kearney  ,along with impressive second half replacements, Dylan O"Donoughue and James O"Shea, were superb  Two minutes from the end, Brian Dillons copperfastened their victory when Darren McGrath got a touch to a Philip O"Brien delivery for a late goal .Another Dave Coughlan point , from a placed ball, closed the scoring which saw Brian Dillons secure an eight point victory.
