The Brian Dillons under-21 footballers face Nemo Rangers in the quarter -final of the City Division under-21 Football Championship on Friday evening (under lights ), 1st March,2013 out in Trabeg with a 7.30pm throw-in.
This is a repeat of last years first round tie when Nemo emerged victorious on a 1-11 to 1-07 scoreline. In that particular game, the Brian Dillons side dominated the opening exchanges and at the end of the opening quarter they held a 0-4 to nil lead. That lead should have been greater if our forwards had not squandered so many gilt-edged scoring opportunities which included a missed penalty.
Brian Dillons have eleven players that played in last years encounter still available and if all are playing on Friday they should have an excellent chance of advancing to the semi-final.  Nemo are the holders of this competition and will prove to be extremely difficult to overcome. Still, with players of the calibre of Tomas Lawrence, Darragh Brosnan, Michael Noonan, Shane Maher, Darren McGrath, Ben Wharton, Andrew Murphy and Dylan O"Donoghue, there is no reason why Brian Dillons cannot record a surprise win on Friday evening.
Team Manager, Brian Hanley, is hoping to see a large volume of Brian Dillons supporters present in Trabeg on Friday evening as we take the first step in attempting to regain the title , which we last won in 2011.
