The Brian Dillons third string Junior Football team are in Championship action on Wednesday evening, 24th July,2013, when they meet Nemo Rangers in the quarter-final of the City Division Junior (C) Football Championship at Ballinlough with an 8.00pm throw-in (Please note time). In the opening round of this Championship, Brian Dillons had a big win over Bishopstown and ,in doing so, gave an exhibition of first class football.. However, two of the most impressive players on that occasion, Kevin Varian and Kevin Allen, will not be available for the quarter -final clash with Nemo. Kevin Varian is ruled out due to a wrist injury, received in a recent Hurling game while Kevin Allen is away on holidays and both will be huge losses against Nemo. Another player who will miss out in the game against Nemo is Ken Mc Carthy, who had a solid game , at centre-half-back, against Bishopstown and Is currently out with a broken leg sustained in an accident at home.. On the positive side, players like James Varian, Mark Walsh (Murmont ), John O"Herlihy, Tom Holohan, Adam O"Halloran and Stephen Coughlan, are available on this occasion after missing the Bishopstown game. As always, Nemo will provide a huge challenge but the Brian Dillons side will be hoping for a repeat of their performance against the same opponents in last years quarter-final when Brian Dillons emerged victorious after a titanic battle. |
