The Brian Dillons second choice Junior Hurling squad have their big day on next Sunday morning, 26th October, 2014, when they contest the final of the City Division Junior (B) Hurling Championship ,against Whitechurch, out in Ballinlough, with an 11.30 am throw-in. Great credit is due to the players and Management team of Tommy Boland (Manager),Ger Allen, Maurice Brown and John O"Herlihy, on reaching this decider with the clubs second team, particularly, as the clubs (A) squad used twenty one players in their Championship campaign and star defender, James Varian, emigrated to Canada, in September. Hopes are high that the team have the spirit and ability to bring back the title to the Club Pavilion on Sunday.
The path to Sundays final has been most impressive for Brian Dillons with big wins over St.Vincents, (5-23 to 0-6), Na Piarsaigh,(2-15 to 1-8), and Mayfield,(6-17 to 1-8), but, the challenge from Whitechurch, who are fielding their first team, will be extremely difficult, and a supreme effort will be required from all the players, if ultimate victory is to be achieved..
