Junior (A) Footballers Meet Whites Cross in Championship Opener.

posted 30 Apr 2015, 13:14 by Willie Horgan
The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Footballers open their City Division Junior (A) Football Championship campaign  when they meet Whites Cross  on Saturday evening, 2nd May, 2015, out in Ballinlough with a 7.30 pm throw-in (Please note change of starting time ).   This will be the third consecutive meeting , in Championship Football, of Brian Dillons and Whites Cross with victory going to Brian Dillons on the two previous occasions . In 2013, at the semi-final stage, Brian Dillons had a 1-12 to 1-7 victory while in the 2014 quarter -final, the honours ,once again, went to Brian Dillons on  2-15 to 2-11 scoreline, after a highly entertaining tussle.. Howvever, those results will count for nothing in Saturdays game, and a third Championship win in a row for Brian Dillons, over Whites Cross, will prove extremely difficult, if recent League results are anything to go by. Whites Cross have begun the season in impressive style with an unbeaten League run to date, while Brian Dillons had a most unsatisfactory opening to their season when their long time Manager, Alan Whelan, stepped down from his post ,days before their opening game. Going into that game a bit disorganised, Brian Dillons were beaten by Passage . However, things have picked up since then with Chris Daly taking over the reins and the team winning their next four League games, which has restored a little more confidence going into Saturdays Championship showdown.  We wish Chris and the boys the best of luck.
