The Brian Dillons Junior (A) Footballers will contest the third round of the City Division Junior (A) Football Championship, at Ballinlough, on tomorrow, Saturday evening, 14th June, 2014,when St.Michaels will provide the opposition in a game which has a 6.30pm throw-in.
Although Brian Dillons recorded a 3-11 to 2-10 victory when they last played St.Michaels ,in a League game on the 28th of April, this year, tomorrows game is going to be a mighty close tussle, Since that League game ,Brian Dillons have lost the services of defender, Tom Triggs, who did his cruciate ligament, in that game, which rules him out for the remainder of the season , Chris Daly has not fully recovered from his knee injury and long serving forward, John Horgan, has been advised to quit Football because of his groin injury. Despite all these setbacks, the Brian Dillons team have been displaying excellent form in their recent League games and in their previous Championship encounter they demolished St.Nicks on a 5-18 to 0-4 scoreline. Runners-up in last years Championship, in which they were beaten by St.Finbarrs, in the final, after a replay, they will be hoping to reach the promised land this year. However, nothing but a first class performance will suffice against a St.Michaels side, who narrowly lost to Brian Dillons, 2-6 to 1-8, in last years Championship.
