U8/U10

U8.

On 29th April we went down to Glen Rovers – we split into 3 groups with the two younger groups having very small goals to contend with. There is a photo around of a scrimmage on the goal line (we did score!). The older group combined with a few of the glen players to play against the full glen team. Roisin and Saoirse were among those excelling in this group although they all played well while Caoimhe, Kathy and Orlaith were exceptional – again all played well. For many it was their first match and they appeared to get over the apprehension quickly.

On 6th May Bishopstown came up to visit us in the Tank. With 14 players at Under 8 we were able to play 2 matches at the same time with Ellen and Anna taking care of one team and Gayle the other. Ellie Mai made her seasonal debut (imagine she took time off for her birthday party the previous week!) and it was Kellie’s birthday but she insisted on playing. Robyn played her first match and Rose and Meadbh were also prominent as was Edel Rose and Mairead in the other group.

U10.

Bishopstown came up on Saturday 6th May and we had 18 players so all had a good run as the referee played a lot of ‘halves’. We had debuts for Leona, Rebecca, Hazel, Anna-Catalina and Olivia and of course our ‘very old’ U8’s made their usual great contribution. We were of course short Caitlin who was unable to combine the match at 10am and her First Holy Communion at 11am.

Glen Rovers invited the U10 team to their La Na Club day on 7th May and we had 14 players available in the afternoon so we split the teams into two and had matches on adjacent pitches. Again everyone played well including Faye, Hazel, Theia and Ashling and we all got a small snack (chicken, sausages and chips) at the end of the match and this was well appreciated after the exertions – ‘I’m starving’ was the reaction when they heard there was food arranged. Thank you to Glen Rovers for the invitation.
