U16's Out Of Championship

posted 8 Dec 2013, 03:35 by Tom Myers
Our U16 team are out of the championship after being beaten in the semi final by Millstreet at Castle Road on December 7. The game, as expected was close from start to finish. Sinead Mills got our first point from a free after three minutes before Rachel Carroll scored a second from play after seven minutes. Millstreet responded well with three points, two from play and one from a 45. Just before H.T Shauna Cronin scored a great goal to put us up by two points going in to the break. We conceeded a poor goal five minutes in to the second half and that seemed to inspire Millstreet to up their game even more. Sinead put over four points for us in the second half, two frees, one from play and one from a 45. However it wasn't enough, Millstreet scored a second goal which was crucial. The final score was Dillons 1-6 to 2-7. In truth we didn't play well on the day and there was only four points in it at the finish. Credit to Millstreet, they took their scores well and we wish them all the best in the final. Our defence again were magnificent. Niamh O Leary was awesome at full back and Deirdre Keane was solid in the corner. Shannon McHale at wing back also played really well. It has been a long hard season and I guess it caught up with us. This team has given everything this season including a league title and their efforts all year has been commendable. ''You have no choices about how you lose, but you do have a choice about how you come back and prepare to win again, loosing is no disgrace once you've given your all'.
REMINDER......Saturday next December 14, kids party at 3pm at the Tank and later that evening an Awards Night will follow. All encouraged to attend.
