Our U15 team had an impressive win away to the Barrs this afternoon, and what a performance it was. Total commitment from every player for the full hour was the secret to this fantastic result. Played in heavy rain and high winds, our girls showed how tough they are. We won comprehensively in the finish with the score at 3-6 to 1-1. We started well with a goal from Anna Myers which went in off the crossbar. That was followed by two more points from play by Lucy Burke and Stephanie Mangan. In reply the Barrs got a goal against the run of play and a point from a free. We were a point up at half time having played with a strong wind. Niamh and Linda told the girls that the Barrs would come at us in the second half with everything and asked that they give it their all.......And Boy Did They Respond. Every single Dillons player was superb. It is no exaggeration to state that this second half performance was probably the best of any of our under age teams this year. We kept the Barrs scoreless in the second half and that is saying something on their own pitch. We created a lot of chances and got our reward with two goals from Kate O Connell. We went on to score four more points from Lucy with two, Kate and Shannnyn Mc Hale .Shannyn was outstanding at centre back, Stephanie Mangan and Molly Garvin in midfield worked their socks off and Kate O Connell who scored two goals in the second half was simply superb. Lucy had the game of her life and Anna always looked dangerous in front of goal. But it was the performance of captain Siofra Deane which was all the talk at the match. She was immense on goal making several saves one of which was world class. Undoubtedly she was the player of the match. |
