On Thursday May 26th we took on a strong Erins Own team. We had just the 15 players due to a number of absentees and injuries to key players so it was going to be a tough game from the start. The girls however really rose to the challenge and put in a performance full of heart and no shortage of skill. Erins Own went in at half time in the lead thanks to an unfortunate o.g from Dillons and despite us hitting the opposition post and missing a number of goal chances. The second half saw our girls up it a gear fighting back to draw 1-2 to 1-2. Then the girls got the breakthrough with the lead goal and in the last 5-6 minutes absorbed ferocious pressure from the physically strong Erins Own girls. The last minute saw Rebecca clear a 20 metre drive off the line which was then converted by Erins Own from a 45 to bring it to a 2 point gap. We held out however thanks to some great defending to claim a hard fought victory. All 15 players were outstanding on the night . The work rate and hooking and blocking was top class. Megan, Clare, Kelly, Zoe, Mary, Ellen, Aoife, Rebecca , Olivia , Ria, , Maeve, Aine , Courtney , Ruby and Sophie can all be very proud of their performance. Next up is an away game against the Barrs.
