Dillons are Intermediate league champions following an impressive victory over Tracton. Having gone through the entire league unbeaten, it's no more than we deserve. It was the overall team performance that impressed most. Our hooking and blocking, our work rate and our discipline was top class and to do so in Castle Road in a league final is very gratifying particularly when we were well below par in the semis against Enniskeane. Sinead put over our first point from a free before Shauna scored two points one of which was pure class. Claire and Jane chipped in with a point each before Caoimhe scored her customary goal. That put us a point ahead at H.T 1-5 to 1-4. In the second half Sinead put over two more points, one from a free and a 45. Then Caoimhe and Lauren got a point each. Caroline came on for Emer and Orla replaced Jane who took one for the team picking up a fractured finger. In reply Tracton scored one point. F.T score 1-9 to 1-5. To restrict Tracton to just one point from play was a great effort. We know what it's like to come away empty handed from Castle Road in league finals and it was never going to happen this time. Our attitude was spot on right from the start, the cup was coming north side. So many positives from this game. Captain Caroline was commanding in goal with impressive puck outs. Niamh is back to her best. Ali in the corner was excellent and of course Emer used her physicality well. Our half backs Amanda, Emma and Essie are formidable against any opposition. Shauna in midfield is playing out of her skin partnered with the experienced Susan. The Dooley's stepped up when we needed them most. Sinead was effective as usual and Lauren looks dangerous every time she's in possession. Caoimhe was brilliant scoring 1-1 and then there was Ruth. She was tasked to do a specific job at centre forward and didn't let us down. A traditional celebration in the club on Friday night was great craic.........I'm told. Now It's a couple of weeks rest for the team while it's rehab for Jane. Then it's back to hard training to completely focus on the championship. Apologies for the late match report and thanks to Karen for the stats.
