Our U18 team have reached the league final following a tremendous win over Aghabullogue. The match was played at the Tank Field on Wednesday April 16. Once again we showed real bottle to grind out a victory on the slightest of margins. The game was extreemely tight from start to finish. At H.T the teams were level at 0-2 each. Our points came from Jessica Aghbaloga and a free from Shauna Cronin. Jessica scored a great point early in the second half but Aghabullogue replied with two quick points. Then, Shauna Cronin showed her class with three points in a row from play within a ten minute period. She was simply outstanding in the middle of the field, winning ball, driving forward and hurting the opposition. We were one point up in the dying seconds when Aghabullogue were awarded a 45. They put it wide and the referee blew it up immeediately. Another gritty performace from this team. Final Score 0-6 to 0-5. Our U18's are a strong unit who once again have showed their never say die attitude. Niamh O Leary and Deirdre Keane were excellent. Emma Sharpe at centr back awesome. Lauren Barry and Rachel Carroll running at pace caused problems and Jess up front was at the best with two great points from play. The final will be played at Castle Road on Easter Moday. Time to be confirmed. |
