Our U18 team had a tremendous win in the Championship away to St. Vincents on Sunday October 20th. The girls were really determined to win this game and to improve on previous performances. Vincent's are a very strong physical side so we made some positional changes. Alison Smith was moved to left half back, Shauna Cronin was moved back as a second defender and Lauren Barry was moved out into midfield. Vincents got a goal after five minutes of play. We replied with two points from Sinead Mills. Then followed a goal from Kayleigh Looby. At H/T we were 4 -4 to 1 -1 up. Vincent's were awarded a penalty when Niamh O Leary brought down Vincent's Amy O Connor. Shauna Walsh saved the penalty and cleared well. Caoimhe Rogers was outstanding on the night scoring four goals and was also accurate with her frees. Our half back line of Essie O Connell, Emma Sharpe and Alison Smith were superb. Emma Carroll scored a deserved 1 -1 and Lauren Barry scored an unbelievable point from midfield. Sinead Mills also scored some more excellent points from play. Overall it a great result but more importantly it was a great team performance. We are now scheduled to play Milford/Ballyhea in the Quarter Final of the Championship. |
