In our first Senior Championship match in over 20 years, Dillons produced an awesome display in defeating Kilbrittan. Our preparation was perfect, our attitude was spot on, work rate tremendous and our execution was unreal. We were against the wind in the first half in Castle Road but despite this we had a fantastic start to the match. Jane scored a goal in the first minute and Clair scored a second within ten minutes. Ruth scored a fantastic point to put us well in control. Our distribution was excellent and before half time, Clair put over two points and Jane one. At H.T the score was 2-4 to 0-6. We spoke at half time about ensuring our work rate remained the same and it was stressed that we would have the wind in the second half but that the wind never won a match. We came out in the second half determined to take this victory. Jane hit the back of the net early on before Clair put over two frees. Lauren scored a real poachers goal before Clair and Sinead put over a point each. Credit to Kilbrittan who finished strongly. They scored a soft goal late on but in truth we were never going to lose this match. They got a penalty in the last minute which Niamh saved. We brought on Caroline for Sarah and Rachel for Ruth. F.T score was 4-8 to 1-10. A great start to the championship and a great confidence boost for us. Next up is Aghabullogue. |
